Rapides Gallinotes

There's a 1/2 km portage along the right bank, but there's no reason to carry the whole thing except, maybe, during spring run-off. Instead, carry 100m around the top falls ... line or run the CI stretch (or paddle the placid right bank) in between ... then carry another 100m over the rocks (or 150m along the trail) past the bottom falls.

There are a few different take-outs up top ... some of which would be a little hairy at highwater. I'd use the first take-out you come to, and approach cautiously ...

The top falls are impressive, and there are some very interesting rock formations here. Fishing is good, I'm told, below the bottom falls.

Length: 100m & 150m; 525m if you take the entire trail.

Difficulty: Moderate
