Rapides Enrages

With the possible exception of the one-k portage around Rapides Guinette (which I've never actually seen, much less used) this is the most difficult portage along the Bottom 130k. The portage trail is narrow and rough; the "road" is easy but almost twice as long. Take your pick.

In either case, put in at the first campsite, rather than carrying the extra 150m or so past the Tri-Play rapids. The latter are not only runnable, but fun to boot. And if you're avoiding whitewater altogether, you can slide a fully loaded (Royalex) canoe over the slick rock on the right bank.

Watch for eagles soaring over the cliffs atop the east (left) bank.

The second campsite, overlooking the Tri-play, rivals Chutes a l'Ours and Corneille, as one of the best on the river. Not a lot of flat space for large parties, though.

Length: 475 meters; about 900 by "road"
Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult
