Les Grandes Chutes - Chutes Coulonge

A Quebec Hydro Dam (upper left) intersects the river a few hundred feet above the main Falls (centre).

The 915 meter log flume (right) built in 1835 cuts an impressive swath down the walls of the gorge.

The river drops 50 meters over the falls, tumbles into an impressive, 750 meter long gorge, then gradually loses steam before finally giving it up to the Ottawa River at Fort Coulonge.
